I do window repair and restoration in the Southampton and Salisbury area, please see below for an idea of what can be done to help solve problems with your existing windows, rather than replacing them. Depending on your house it can look better to have the problems corrected than have new windows that don’t match the age or look of your house. This is especially the case for historic/listed buildings.
• Sashes eased by taking paint off beads
• Sash cords replaced with waxed cord
• Pulley wheels replaced if needed
• Widows balanced and lead added if needed
• Catches replaced if needed
• Locks fitted if required
• Repairs to rotten sashes and frames under taken
• Cracked glass replaced
• Shutters repaired and made serviceable
• Odd size beads or shape beads made by my self
• All work undertaken by myself or qualified carpenters and joiners
• No windows left unsecure at night (sashes repaired on site)
• Dust sheets used extensively with props and sheets at bay windows • Scrapping does not clear the build up of paint which causes the problem
I also offer a service for draftproofing doors.
